A New Twitter UI Coming?

Last night I seen this tweet. I just actually wonder what @ev considers (Coming Soon) to be. In Twitter terms this could actually be, oh, lets say around 2010? I mean think about it. These are the people that still have the status message saying they are working hard on fixing IM features. What are your thoughts? Have you seen any secret screenshots?
Don't get me wrong I am far from a Twitter hater but sheesh, I would like them to actually keep their promises. That is all.

Online Tweet-UP 3.0 The Day After
Last night we implemented a new format. The first hour of the show was dedicated to Twitter related topics. The second half of the show opened up to the usual free for all Tweet-UP talk.
I think the format really helped the show and offered some great content for our listeners. Thanks again to all that came, and I couldn't do it without you!
Below you will find the archive of the show and a little about what we covered.
Content
In this show we talked about FaceYourManga and it's love/hate relationships with the Twitter community. Tweetbots, Newspapers on Twitter, Free custom Twitter backgrounds, Blackbird a Blackberry Twitter client, and Twitterfeed were other topics that were reviewed.

TwitKit Gets A New Look Version 1.1 Released
This release (codenamed "Goldfinch") focuses on UI improvements and an increase in stability. All of the code has been reorganized and cleaned up, making sure that it's as fast as possible. You'll also see quite a few new features in this release - including SSL (secure) connection support, the ability to localize TwitKit (we have 3 new languages!), and a little 'undock' button that lets you take TwitKit out of the sidebar and into a separate window.
The UI has been redone in many ways - we're now using the awesome Fugue icon set, and the tabs now have icons instead of words, which allows us to fit more features in there!
Also, due to popular request, the keyboard shortcut to open and close TwitKit has been changed - it's now Control+Alt+A (Command+Option+A for Mac users).
The download page is updated and waiting for you.. so go ahead!

The First Ever Online Tweet-UP A Success!
![]()
First and foremost I want to thank everyone that participated last night. You may have just jumped in the show for 5-10 minutes or stayed for the whole call I just want to say THANK YOU.
As I stated last night this all started around 4 days ago when I had come up with the idea. It was a small "dream" of sorts for me for this to be a hit. Last night my expectations were met 10 fold. With little notice we had an amazing turnout, and it seemed if someone had to leave another popped in. Everyone seemed to have some great discussions going on and had a good time. There was no set of discussion last night, and we really fed off the listeners in chat and callers. I am afraid if certain topic is set in the future it will lose it's purpose of being a general Tweet-UP which is a general meet & greet.
If you could not make it, or if you did and want to hear the show again you can listen to it here.
I would like to think that I will host another Tweet-UP in the future. Hopefully in two weeks. Before I make that decision I would really like some feedback. If you made it to the Tweet-UP please leave a comment about what you thought. All feedback is appreciated, as I want to know that people had a good time and I'm not just doing this for me.
Next I would like to say thanks to the following people and to suggest you follow them on Twitter. But first a BIG thanks to Albert over at eatsleeptweet.com who donated some shirts to give away last night!

Twitterfeed + Tweetburner = Ability To Track Your Stories
What you may not know is there is a setting in Twitterfeed to where you can have all of your URL's shortened and used with Tweetburner. With this you can see how many clicks the link you submitted has recieved.
This is simple to set up when your setting up a new feed. In the drop box that state "Shorten your link through:" just choose Tweetburner and your done. You can also see this in the picture above.

Join The first ever Online Tweet-UP! Thursday, July 24th 9:30 EST
Last night I got to thinking about how many Tweetup's take place in the Twitter community. Now, many of our Twitter friends and followers are miles away from us and we may or may not actually get to meet them and break out of our 140 character discussion.
This is where the Online Tweet-UP is going to try and fill that gap. I am introducing Online Tweet-Up over at Talkshoe. You can find the show page here. Online Tweet-UP is a place where you and your Twitter friends will be able to call in and discuss things going on around Twitter or anything else you would like to chat about. I will do my best to get everyoine I can involved in the call ins. If you would like to recieve a personal invite or considered for instant unmuting email me tw3nty3ight@gmail.com. If your not comfortable with calling in, break out a discussion in the live chat.
OTU I think will be a great chance for you to hang out and enjoy your Twitter friends as well as meet new ones. Keep in mind that this is in the very early stages as I just came up with this idea. If we get a lot of people interested this could be a every other week ordeal or gathering so to speak. I am also planning to have afew special guests as well. Hopefully they can make it on such a short notice. Also note that you will have to register an account over at Talkshoe
Remember this is meant to be fun! The more the merrier so spread the word!!! See you there!
Thanks to all of you that make the Twitter community so awesome!

Summize Is No More
Why is this good? Well, Twitter never really had a good search platform. That's not the case now. Now, in the long term will this be a huge improvement to us Twitter users? That is yet to be seen. I myself hope that this leads to IM/Track features coming back. One can only hope.

Blackbird - The Newest Twitter Client For The Blackberry
I am liking Blackbird much more than TB for a few reasons. The main reason is for some reason it just seems easier to use. It also seems faster and on top of that my favorite feature is that you can seamlessly refresh replies to you from the replies page. With TB this was a painstaking process.
Now keep in mind Blackbird has no "eye candy". This I assume is the reason behind it being faster. In the end the speed and eas of use make up for the lack of graphics for me. I am still however waiting for one of these clients to implement an audible alert when I have a reply. So if the Blackbird developer reads this, that is the only thing I could want from this app.

Twitter, I Am Growing Tired Of Waiting

Nearly a month ago Twitter was rushed into ER and died on the operating table. After a few hours of work and a near death experience. Twitter was alive again, but far from well.
Since that fateful day we have been limited with our features that we have grown to take advantage of. Limited API, track, IM, and SMS seem to be the hardest felt.
You all know I am a huge supporter of Twitter and don't like people calling out Twitter rudely. However, I am growing tired. my tweets have taken a large hit since IM was disabled.
I think after over a month of issues there has been ample time to bring back all of Twitters features. I am starting to get frustrated....

Another Twitter Alternative Kwippy Impresses
Many of you already know that I am a hardcore supporter of Twitter. You have seen me flat out cut down almost any alternatives, most recently Plurk. So in my eyes it's a big deal that Kwippy left me with a sort of excitement feeling.
Kwippy adds a new concept to micro/nano blogging. It's based off of IM status messages being automatically posted as an update. However, it's real fun comes as a Twitter alternative. Yes, I said it a Twitter alternative.
The main things I like about it is there isn't a character limit. I know this pretty much kills the microblogging concept of it but to be honest it's easy to overlook. I think the main thing I like about Kwippy is how it is laid out as well as it's functionality. You can comment (reply) to each persons Kwip, and are notified when this happens.
The only thing I would like to see added (which I have already suggested) is the ability to turn off the updates via email. I don't want them taking over my inbox.
In closing will I be making the switch to Kwippy? In short no. But I will say this, if I go anywhere it will be here. I just can't use Twitter and an alternative efficiently at the same time. Good work over there at Kwippy guys!
If you would like to try out Kwippy leave a comment with you email address and Ill shoot you one. I only have 10 so first come first serve.

My Take On The Twitter Downtime
Over the past few day's there has been a lot of tweets from people saying they are fed up. I can see their point however I choose to support rather than complain. To be honest my Twitterstream has taken a hit as well. I can see many people simply not updating as much as they used too.
The only issue I have right now is the support of IM not being there. This pretty much makes Twitter hard to use for me, due to the fact I can't keep up with replies to me as well. Just so you know Twitter, I will be here for the long haul. I just hope all of my followers will join me in this stance.

How do you find your Twitter buddies?

I got to wondering today, what is the way most people on Twitter find the people they follow? I am sure we all have our different ways of going about this. I just think if I got some feedback on this in the comments section it could be interesting, as well as maybe help us out there discover new peeps to follow.
As for me, which I have covered before.... I use Tweetscan to search for topics that interest me. For example I usually search "Ohio" in hopes to find people that are from my area, I also use "Beta Invite" so I can add people who seem to be the first to know about newly released Beta apps.
I think it's funny to look back when I first started "tweeting" I was ignorant to the whole thing, and had no friends that had used Twitter. I went in blind and used the "Timeline" to find interesting people. After I found a few good people I started following people they follow and the rest is history.....
So my question for you is first, how did you find your first people to follow, and how do you find them now?
