The First Ever Online Tweet-UP A Success!

Labels: , ,

First and foremost I want to thank everyone that participated last night. You may have just jumped in the show for 5-10 minutes or stayed for the whole call I just want to say THANK YOU.

As I stated last night this all started around 4 days ago when I had come up with the idea. It was a small "dream" of sorts for me for this to be a hit. Last night my expectations were met 10 fold. With little notice we had an amazing turnout, and it seemed if someone had to leave another popped in. Everyone seemed to have some great discussions going on and had a good time. There was no set of discussion last night, and we really fed off the listeners in chat and callers. I am afraid if certain topic is set in the future it will lose it's purpose of being a general Tweet-UP which is a general meet & greet.

If you could not make it, or if you did and want to hear the show again you can listen to it here.

I would like to think that I will host another Tweet-UP in the future. Hopefully in two weeks. Before I make that decision I would really like some feedback. If you made it to the Tweet-UP please leave a comment about what you thought. All feedback is appreciated, as I want to know that people had a good time and I'm not just doing this for me.

Next I would like to say thanks to the following people and to suggest you follow them on Twitter. But first a BIG thanks to Albert over at eatsleeptweet.com who donated some shirts to give away last night!

Twitterfeed + Tweetburner = Ability To Track Your Stories

Labels: , ,

Most of us already know about Twitterfeed, the client that sends your favorite RSS feeds to Twitter. Some of you may already know about Tweetburner, the website that tracks popular links posted to Twitter as well.

What you may not know is there is a setting in Twitterfeed to where you can have all of your URL's shortened and used with Tweetburner. With this you can see how many clicks the link you submitted has recieved.

This is simple to set up when your setting up a new feed. In the drop box that state "Shorten your link through:" just choose Tweetburner and your done. You can also see this in the picture above.

Join The first ever Online Tweet-UP! Thursday, July 24th 9:30 EST

Labels: , ,

Hello everyone!

Last night I got to thinking about how many Tweetup's take place in the Twitter community. Now, many of our Twitter friends and followers are miles away from us and we may or may not actually get to meet them and break out of our 140 character discussion.

This is where the Online Tweet-UP is going to try and fill that gap. I am introducing Online Tweet-Up over at Talkshoe. You can find the show page here. Online Tweet-UP is a place where you and your Twitter friends will be able to call in and discuss things going on around Twitter or anything else you would like to chat about. I will do my best to get everyoine I can involved in the call ins. If you would like to recieve a personal invite or considered for instant unmuting email me tw3nty3ight@gmail.com. If your not comfortable with calling in, break out a discussion in the live chat.

OTU I think will be a great chance for you to hang out and enjoy your Twitter friends as well as meet new ones. Keep in mind that this is in the very early stages as I just came up with this idea. If we get a lot of people interested this could be a every other week ordeal or gathering so to speak. I am also planning to have afew special guests as well. Hopefully they can make it on such a short notice. Also note that you will have to register an account over at Talkshoe

Remember this is meant to be fun! The more the merrier so spread the word!!! See you there!

Thanks to all of you that make the Twitter community so awesome!

A Few Reasons I'm Glad I Didn't Get A 3G iPhone

Labels:

I have been hearing of so many people on Twitter complain about their new 3G iPhone. This has made me appreciate my 3G Blackberry even more.

Here are some iPhone complaints I pulled from Twitter. Keep in mind these were within a 20 minute time span before I wrote this post.

"isn't particularly thrilled that installing updates to iPhone apps messes up one's icon layout"

"Pissed off at having to restore my iphone back to factory settings because 2.0 has bricked the mail app"

"My iPhone is an iBrick and stuck on the boot screen...it is also my alarm clock and didn't go off!!!"

"Anyone else having problems with apps on the iPhone?"

"My iPhone refuses to come back after a hard reset. And so I try... again, and again, and again.... still no luck"

"irritated that the iPhone apps that worked after I installed them yesterday are not working today after last night's sync."

"At Norcross Mall Apple Store restoring my iPhone after it totally puked on me in the car"

A New Kindle To Come This Fall?

Labels:

Rumors have been swirling around that Amazon has revamped and updated their Kindle product line. These rumors are also speculating that it will be released on or around October 2008.

What's even more interesting is there is said to be two new models. Yes I said two.

The first model is to be the same screen size as the original, but gets better form, and a much improved interface. The second is said to be in the form of a normal 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper and considerably larger than the original. The second model will not be available until 2009 however. Amazon is also rumored to make these newer models available in multiple colors in order to appeal to more consumers.

I am sure more details are to come. If I hear of them it will be here.

Gmail Contacts Just Got Cleaner

Labels: ,

If you an avid Gmail user like myself then you are sure to know the pain of Gmail's contacts adding various people who email you into your contact list. For me this was one of my main issues with the service. This is slowly being fixed.

Gmail has just released My Contacts feature in your contacts section. You can now choose wiether or not Gmail automatically adds contacts for you or you add them manually. Now your contact list won't have to be cluttered with numerous address you either do not need or want.

With the implementation of Gmail Labs and now this It seems as if Google is taking all the right steps making Gmail the best web based email around.

Summize Is No More

Labels: , ,

Some of you may have noticed that Summize now has a Twitter logo. Why? Well they were bought by Twitter. Now Summize is a logo'ed Twitter search.

Why is this good? Well, Twitter never really had a good search platform. That's not the case now. Now, in the long term will this be a huge improvement to us Twitter users? That is yet to be seen. I myself hope that this leads to IM/Track features coming back. One can only hope.

Yesterday at E3 Microsoft announced that this fall in Xbox Live's update that it will support Netflix to 360 streaming. If your not wanting to wait and have a Windows PC with Media Center VmcNetflix will hold you over. This Media Center plug-in will let you stream your account to your 360 as an extender. I myslef had some errors with this plugin, however many others haven't had any problems. If your willing to give it a go VmcNetflix is for you.
