12seconds announced yesterday that they are implementing a new awards feature. These awards are small buttons that will show in your profile as seen in the picture. This is a really unique and compelling addition to 12seconds. I like it! Of course I do already have the "1200" and "alpha" awards so I am pumped! I will be hoping to get more! Great job guys!

This week we want to introduce a new feature: Awards

Awards will appear in the right hand sidebar right above the 12second Challenge. We will issue awards for moments in history or individual accomplishments. To begin, we'll issue two awards...

1. First 1200 12er Award
This is for the first 1200 registered users of 12seconds. If you're among the first 1200, you're stoked. This is award is now retired and can never be issued again. We are burning the photoshop file with the design for this award as we speak.

2. Alpha Member Award
Let's face it, you've put up with some bugs. You were smart enough to sign up early and play with it before it was a ubiquitous service that changed the landscape of social media. You deserve an award. Once we go into beta (which isn't long now) this award will be retired.

3. 12second Challenge Special Award: Olympics Week!
This week on the 12second Challenge we're going to do a special edition - Olympics Week. Each day we'll have 12second Challenge where you'll compete for the ever-so-rare 12second Olympic Award. We will pick one person each day who best "represented" in the Challenge. We'll pick based on effort, humor and skill. The winner will get an Olympic Award on their profile and will be featured on our homepage for the entire day after the award was given. So, do your stretches and make your country proud.
